Frequently Asked Questions about the
Finepix Real 3D W3 digital camera
- Is it complicated to use?
- Not at all! The Finepix Real 3D W3 digital camera is a point and shoot digital camera, so all you need to do is take aim and capture! The high resolution widescreen 3D LCD display also makes it easy to see what you’ve captured right on the back of the camera, instantly in 3D.
- How do I view what I’ve captured?
- There are several different ways that you can enjoy your 3D content once you’ve captured it with the W3. First, you can connect the camera to any HDMI 1.4 compliant 3D television. A single HDMI 1.4 cable (sold separately) is all it takes to start enjoying content from the W3 instantly on a 3D television. You can also order 3D prints online, and there are also several software and PC hardware 3D viewing solutions available as well, for those preferring a computer viewing alternative.
- How can I print my 3D images?
- FUJIFILM’s Printing and Photo Gift site, Seehere.com, is the place to go for your 3D prints. Simply upload your 3D image files, and in a few days, your 5 x 7” 3D lenticular prints are delivered to your door.
- Do I have to carry around a regular 2D camera also?
- Not unless you want to! The W3 also shoots both stills and movies in 2D as well. It even has a special Advanced 2D feature, that lets you capture two different images at the same time using the special two ccd/two fujinon lens system. Capture both a zoom and wide angle image, two different color modes, or two different ISO settings, automatically. In addition to these unique 2D features, the W3 also has a variety of camera features you’ve probably seen in Fujfiilm cameras already, such as Face detection with Redeye removal, Scene Positions, Dual Shot mode, Natural Light mode, Macro mode, and much more. The W3 is truly both a 2D and 3D camera in one.
- Isn’t 3D Photography just a fad, isn’t it “gimmicky”?
- If you consider that 3D photography has been around for over 100 years, and that all of the big movie companies and television companies, and broadcast, cable, and satellite companies are all developing 3D products and programming, then no. The evolution of 3D into mainstream modern consumer applications has arrived! With the development of digital devices, such has cable, satellite, cameras, blu ray and DVD discs, and supporting devices such as flat panel televisions, surround sound, and DVRs, it was only a matter of time before 3D technology became a part of the mainstream mass media landscape. And because of digital technology, 3D looks better and is easier to create than ever before!
- What do I need to get started with 3D photography?
- Just the camera. From there, you can view images on your camera’s LCD, order 3D prints from Seehere.com, invest in a 3D television or 3D computer monitor viewing system, or use special software on your standard computer screen. It’s really up to you, and how you choose to enjoy it.
- Is it hard to be a “good” 3D photographer?
- Not at all. With the convenient point and shoot operation of the W3, capturing 3D content is easy. Now keep in mind that 3D photography, much like standard 2D photography, takes a little practice, and there are certain ‘guidelines” that will help you to take better 3D photos, but there’s really nothing to it – it’s simple and fun!
- What is the difference between the W3 and the previous camera?
- The W3 has some new features and capability that the W1, our very first 3D digital camera, didn’t have. First is it’s size – the W3 is approximately 20% smaller than the W1. Also, the W3 touts HDMI 1.4 connectivity, a digital standard that most 3D televisions use, that makes the W3 compatible with virtually every 3D telelvision being made today. The W3 also features High Definition Movie capture at 720P resolution. And don’t forget the big widescreen 16x9 high resolution 3D display on the back of the W3, a big improvement over the display on the W1 in size and shape. There are many other features about the W3 that make it a fun and easy to use camera, such as 16x9 recording format, a new mode dial, better button and GUI layout, and a smaller and more lightweight battery.
- Should I wait until 3D is more common to purchase a camera?
- You can if you want to, but considering that you have a wide choice of televisions and computer systems available now, plus the planned rollout of a variety of 3D content from your favortie cable, satellite and broadcast stations, and a compact, high quality digital camera capable of taking stunning 2D and 3D images and high definition movies on the go, I think you can safely say that 3D has arrived!
